I think Mark Hodge Warner may have had a daughter with Ann Lillie Arnold the year he left for Nebraska. the child was called Ida Madeline Warner (born July 1872) and she became a renowned photographer under her married name Mattie Gunterman. On her marriage certificate she lists her parents as AnnaLillie Arnold and Mark Warner. In 1870 Lillie Arnold aged 16 was living with her Uncle William Ludwig Moyer in property 96 in Cassapolis. I think Mark Warner aged 19 was in property 148 in the same town. Ida Madeline who called herself Mattie was living with her grandmother Mary Ann Arnold (nee Moyer, sister of William Moyer) in La Crosse, Wisconsin, in 1885 she was living in Oriska Barnes with her uncle William Henry Salter and aunt Ellamanda (sister of Lillie Arnold) . IN 1890 she was living in Seattle and in 1891 she married William Gunterman. She travelled to the mining camps of British Columbia where she was a cook and took a lot of photographs for which she is now celebrated. I have not been able to trace Lillie Arnold past 1870 yet – but I keep looking. Cassopolis was too small a town for there to be two Mark Warners, there is the marriage certificate and Mark Warner leaving town in 1872 the year of Matties Birth.
